MINISTRIES & MISSIONS
Our family ministry provides opportunities for kids to learn about God through Sunday morning age level classes,
Sunday Mornings - Infants through 5th Grade
Kids start out in the sanctuary with everybody else, then just before the sermon, they go to age level classes and meet up with the rest of the congregation after worship over refreshments.
We offer staffed childcare for infants through four year olds during Sunday worship, so you can know that your child is in great hands while you connect with God and learn from Scripture.
Beyond Sunday Morning - Middle School and Senior Highs
This 2018-2019 school year we're partnering in youth minsitry with another Tacoma church, Trinity Presbyterian.
In this partnership:
Skyline youth in grades 6-12 will meet once a month with Pastor Robyn and one of our church members for a mixed age small group model of learning and applying the Scriptures to life. This will be the 2nd Sunday of each month from 4:30-6:00PM in the Hogue’s home and will include pizza or some form of supper.
Skyline youth in grades 6-12 will also gather at least once a month with Tommy Shinn for a mixed age small group ensemble of musicians (each youth will bring his or her instrument or be singer) as Tommy teaches about contemporary Christian music and helps the studentrs prepare to lead in our praise music on a Sunday when they are ready. The first gathering will be October 7 4:30-6:00PM in the sanctuary.
Throughout the coming year, we hope to join Trinity youth in once a month Hang Outs. The first will be Sep 23rd for lunch at Wendy’s and then Laser Tag at Laser Quest in Federal Way. Michele Houston and Randy Cavanagh are the Skyline adult leaders for this activity.
Starting in October, separate Hang Out activities will be offered for middle schoolers and high schoolers. The high schoolers of Trinity prefer dinner and conversation on how their faith influences the issues of their day. Middle schoolers prefer activities like laser tag. We will coordinate these events through Trinity.
We plan to send kids to "Unite! Winer Retreat" at Tall Timber Camp in the Leavenworth area December 27-30, 2018. This snow retreat in a multi-church, diverse community for 3 nights and 7 meals for $135 per student. We will need to send 2 adults with our group.
High schoolers will be invited to participate in the fall adult new members seminar. Middle schoolers will be invited to participate in a confirmation class in the spring culminating with Palm Sunday.
Skyline Youth will participate with Trinity in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine February 2019 where they'll learn about world hunger and Christian compassion as they personally fast for 30 hours and join in a variety of learning activities.
Summer 2019, will see middle schoolers going to Presbytery Camp Sound View and senior highers going to the week-long PCUSA National Youth Triennium at Purdue University.
