For September's Abundance Sunday we are highlighting the Pierce County Hunger Walk!
The Hunger Walk is actually in October, October 2nd to be exact, but we would like encourage everyone who is interested in walking on Skyline’s team to be signed up, have sponsors and, if possible, have their funds in by September 29th. This will allow us to participate in pre-registration at Umpqua bank and make the day of the walk a fun time of exercise and fellowship for all of us! In 2015 the Pierce County Hunger Walk raised over $130,000 to combat hunger in our community. Let’s get back on the trail and participate this year!
A human touch can make a huge impact. Just ask Joe, who came to our men’s shelter after years on the street: “Most people won’t talk to you directly . . . It gets to the point where you stop caring, because nobody cares. You feel nobody cares, so why should you? A simple thing, like someone asking how you’re doing - can change your day.” At its core, Search & Rescue is about saving lives and letting hurting community members know they are not forgotten.
